The St. Mark's Parish Life Committee has three goals:
1) to encourage Christian fellowship within the congregation,
2) to encourage social ministry, and
3) to encourage evangelism in the community (in conjunction with the Evangelism Committee).
This committee is welcoming new members and ideas. Some ideas already put forth are game nights, day trips, and movie/discussion nights. What would you like to do with other members of St. Mark's?
The committee is also responsible for disbursing benevolence funds on behalf of the congregation. The committee also helps raise this money. Some of the recipients of these funds are
Augsburg Lutheran Home,
The Charles North Community Association,
Gettysburg Seminary,
Shepherd's Clinic and the
Maryland Food Bank. Are there other agencies that you know of that St. Mark's should be aware of?
For more information on the Parish Life Committee, contact Richard Spittel.
St. Mark's Congregation Council is working hard to revitalize our committee system. Your help with whatever time and effort you can give is very much needed. Please visit our
Events page for meeting times.
Our council recently appointed several volunteers to reactivate the Worship & Music, Parish Life, and Evangelism committees.
Also, there are opportunities to be involved in the community in which St. Mark's lives and serves, including Dallas Nicholas Elementary School. Talk with Pastor Dale Dusman for more information on the school or other community-related projects.
From time to time, there are opportunities to assist with office tasks, with Property Committee projects, or even "on call" with the Hospitality Committee.
Contact the parish office if you would like to help out.
If you believe that God calls people to serve, consider these volunteer opportunities as calls for
you to serve!
